A person’s comfort zone is a type of mental condition in which a person is confident of the outcome, and that his behavior or situation will not create a sense of risk. When a person does something or finds himself in a situation that raises his anxiety level, that person’s prior experience tells him that it won’t work, or that he doesn’t know how the outcome will turn out. If a person never takes a risk or puts himself in a situation the outcome of which he is unsure of, chances are he will not gain any new experience. As a manager and expects you team members to grow and dare to leave their comfort zone you will have to do that to. You have to show them how to take calculated risks. If you don’t dare to take risks for the team, how can you expect them to take risks for you?
